In Memory
My partner and my love Heidi Trilsch lost her two-year battle with lung cancer on May 29, 2021. Heidi was the main reason that we decided to sail the World ARC. We searched for the right boat and finally found the Vaudrey Miller 57, which was totally rebuilt to become SKY.
Heidi sailed from the age of 3, was a sailing instructor in summer camp for three years in her teen years, and sailed with her father on a Pearson Triton around the waters of Hingham, MA. She and her late husband Peter regularly sailed from Bristol, RI, to the Bahamas and Caribbean on their boat named Spartina.
As part of the crew of SKY, Heidi was known as the admiral, was very popular with other sailors, and with her easy smile, made friends effortlessly. Heidi loved animals, especially her golden lab Cruz, played tennis every day she was on land, even after she was being treated for lung cancer.
Heidi was a great motivator for the crew and made sure SKY was kept clean and organized. She loved sailing in all kinds of weather, had no fear when the waves got high, and loved being on the helm. Heidi sailed on SKY from St Petersburg, FL, through the Panama Canal to the Galapagos, and each place we stopped along the way, we had great adventures. Heidi encouraged me to finish the World ARC on SKY, and her spirit will be with us on the voyage. Thank you, Heidi, for loving me and the incredible adventures we have had together!

Our Mission
SV SKY is entered to sail around the world in the World Arc 2019. Our goal is to raise as much money as possible for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. Won't you give $25 today?
The Boat
SV SKY is a custom-built, 57-foot Vaudrey Miller designed by Simonis Voogd. The 4-cabin boat was designed to sail the world. Jopie Helsen owns the Sailor’s Wharf Yacht Yard where all the renovations and design changes are being made for easy and safe sailing with the latest in electronics, sail design, and sail handling.
Why the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society
We chose the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society because of their dedication towards finding a cure for blood cancers and chronic diseases. There are a lot of fantastic cancers societies out there. However, the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society does research on several types of cancers. Read the Staggering Pace of Blood Cancer Therapy Approvals »
